The Master Program Modern East Asian Studies MA MEAS is an English-taught degree program with a social scientific, modern/contemporary and interdisciplinary profile. The program offers researchfocused training for highly motivated and qualified graduates with a keen interest in East Asia. A background in one of the disciplinary areas of Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, Economics or Business Administration and a strong interest in the East Asian Area and knowledge of an East Asian lan-guage is required. For those graduates with an East Asian language background or a BA with 180 ECTS credits, the MEAS+1 program applies. The MEAS program aims to train students in the theoretical and problem-centred analysis of social, political and economic phenomena in East Asia. The program’s objective is to deepen and enrich the students’ abilitiy to assess contemporary change, the challenges for the East Asian region and the implications of such developments for Europe on the basis of strong language competencies (in Chinese or Japanese) and a sound knowledge in disciplinary methods and theories.You can go 2 years.

Admissions Requirements
Applicants should have a bachelor degree with a major in Social or Political Sciences or Economy. Applicants from non-anglophone countries should provide proof of English proficiency. Application deadline for non EU students is July 15.
