Profile
The two-year master programme in Molecular Science and Engineering provides the students with a broad background in chemistry as well as a deeper knowledge in some chosen areas. A wide range of topics are covered, including molecular structure, synthesis of molecules, material properties, quantum chemistry, molecular reactions, surface chemistry, and you will also become acquainted with a number of advanced analytical techniques. In addition, you will perform project work and teamwork, as well as practice your written and oral communication. The opportunities to do coursework or to perform the degree project abroad are good, and there are a large number of foreign universities in different countries to choose between. The programme is strongly linked to the activities at the School of Chemical Science and Engineering, and especially the Department of Chemistry. Thus, you will come in direct contact with research performed at KTH. Moreover, the programme deals with real-world challenges such as considerations of energy, safety, environment, ethics, sustainability, and human rights in chemical industries, research, and society. The programme consists of choosing from an extensive selection of courses followed by a degree project. There is considerable freedom and an opportunity to create a personalised curriculum, focusing on individual areas of interest and allowing for a degree that is both fundamentally strong and specialised.
