Profile
The focus of the programme is the human scale and perception of space. Nationally and internationally, there is a demand for architects and designers who master the design of architectural details as part of the articulation of harmonious and atmospheric spaces. Spatial Design is a new and growing field that investigates the mutual relations between physical and social spaces, including Spatial Organisation, Interior Design and Microarchitecture. Students work with architectural projects on a human scale that relate to subjects of relevance to society and social issues.Design-related, architectural and artistic aspects and investigative methods are employed in close relation to other scientific fields such as anthropology. The methods are applied to investigate how the exact use of proportions, composition, materials and details can enrich the experience of space. The field ranges from the spatial scale and context to the detail level, combining both architectural and design specialisations. The programme provides comprehensive courses in theory and method as well as a wide range of subjects, spanning from tectonics, joinery, materiality to lighting, representation and craft.
