Profile
The Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies and Diplomatic Sciences is inspired by an interdisciplinary approach, in which the contents and methodologies of Political Science, Sociology of Communication, Law, Economy and Statistics complement each other. The knowledge and tools acquired through the study of these disciplines seem essential to develop a career in both the public and private sectors in the contemporary world. The first year is aimed at developing the following skills: mastering and using the main theories of international relations in a flexible way; understand the dynamics of the global economy and financial markets, as well as the classical and emerging legal principles that regulate international political life; understand the relationship between media, actors and political processes. Moreover, at this stage, students are guided in the deepening of the objectives and strategies of two international actors particularly relevant from the Italian perspective, such as the United States and the Vatican. The second year of the major in International relations urges students to turn their attention to the emerging issues of the international dimension such as energy and climate policies, the management of crises with increasingly undefined outlines, the conflicting strategies of the protagonists of international politics. In this second part of the training course, students are also asked to integrate the skills of qualitative analysis developed previously with the introduction to quantitative investigation methods of international political phenomena. Finally, they are offered the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of two crucial regions of the world political chessboard, such as the Indo-Pacific quadrant and the Post-Soviet Space, as well as the goals and policies of their respective champions, China and Russia.
