Description
Luiss is an independent university that evolved out of an earlier Roman institution, the Pro Deo, between 1974 and 1978. LUISS offers an innovative educational approach at its four Departments: Economics and Finance, Business and Management, Law, and Political Science. Its goal is not simply to convey knowledge but to instill flexibility in young people, giving them a sense of mastery over their future. LUISS works to develop professional abilities, entrepreneurial mindsets and leadership skills through academic programs and research in economic, social and legal fields. Academic programs are in line with the needs of organizations and institutions around the world. The University offers extra courses to all students, dedicated to videomaking, design, robotics, coding, and to develop soft skills and practical abilities.
Student Life
Viale Romania campus, the historic complex from the early 19th century that has been completely renovated in 2007. It houses the Departments of Economics and Finance, Business and Management, and Political Science. It is a campus of over 33,000 m2 set in a park in the center of Rome, with advanced technology and services; Viale Pola campus, the historic campus which sits the University’s headquarters. It hosts the Offices of the President, of the Rector and of the General Management, LUISS Business School, and the School of Journalism; Via the Parenzo campus, which houses the Department of Law and is structured into various spaces and terraces, where studying means living in a community. Students at LUISS can join a team for every sport: basketball, football, volleyball, rugby, rowing, swimming, skiing, sailing, dancesport, athletics, cycling, and tennis. Bus service to get students to sports facilities is provided by the University. Students can also benefit from discounts for gyms and sport centers subscriptions. Every campus has tables for table tennis and foosball. A futsal field and a mini-basketball court are located on the Viale Romania campus. The university promotes student associations by supporting their activities and providing them with dedicated space, funds, and media.
