All Civil Engineering & Construction

Considering the scope and scale of the projects civil engineers can end up managing, this profession often appeals to highly responsible individuals. Decision-making, organizational, and leadership skills are as important as a good grasp of mathematics and spatial relationships.

The planning, design, and execution of complex construction projects all fall under the civil engineer’s remit. In most states and foreign countries, you will need a license to practice as one. Specific requirements vary, but any accredited 4-year degree from a recognized U.S. or European university will generally be accepted.

As with any other engineering degree, coursework will focus on mathematical and scientific principles that can be applied to the art of engineering. You will be expected to complete problem-solving exercises individually and as part of a team, and gain familiarity with a range of computer software and engineering technologies.
