The main objectives of the Master in Theoretical Physics are specialized academic training in the area of Theoretical Physics and the initiation of research. This Master gives access to doctoral studies.The master’s degree in Theoretical Physics is structured in two specialties, one in Elementary Particles and Cosmology (PEC) and the other in Astrophysics and Physics of the Cosmos (AFC).By area of Theoretical Physics here it refers to a broad set of disciplines that are clearly related to the fields of Elementary Particle Physics, Cosmology and Astrophysics, and have as a common base the knowledge of nature at its most fundamental level, both in relation to the structure of matter and its forms of interaction, as well as in relation to the knowledge of the origin, structure and evolution of the Universe. Among other disciplines, this area includes: Quantum Theory of Fields and Strings, Theoretical and Experimental Physics of Elementary Particles, Cosmology, Nuclear Physics, Theory of Gravitation, Astrophysics, Astroparticle Physics, Physics of Condensed Matter, Computational Physics, Fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics and others.
