This Master’s program combines the fields of Tourism Economics and Regional Economics. The program, offered since 2012, is fully taught in English, and attended by students from different countries. The region of Algarve is a natural laboratory for Tourism Economics and Regional Development. Hence, this three-semester program (total of 90 ECTS) aims not only to provide students with a knowledge in these fields, but also to explore its practical applications. Our motto is: Bridging Theory and Practice.Our Masters is integrated in a Double Degree Program with the Master’s in Economics of Tourism: Monitoring and Evaluation, offered by the University of the Balearic Islands (Spain).Students that conclude our Masters can also obtain the Degree of the Master’s in Economics of Tourism: Monitoring and Evaluation, by spending a semester at the University of the Balearic Islands and approving in 30 ECTS.After attending this master’s program students should be able to:1) Analyze the complexity of the economic dimension of tourism and its connection to regional development; 2) Evaluate the economic impact of tourism;3) Plan and manage tourism projects;4) Use advanced research methods and techniques;5) Contribute to the setting and implementation of policies in the domains of tourism and regional development.
