The goal of the study program is to promote academic education in Church sacral art, to promote icon painting based on Orthodox Church traditions and the Canon of Icon Painting; and altar painting; to promote scientific and interdisciplinary research in conceptually new directions that of mutual relations between theology and art. Studies are organised in the form of practical lessons, lectures, research work, individual work, consultations, presentations, conferences, workshops, and expositions.
Main courses offered include modules of Theology; module of History and Theory of Art; module of Iconography (theory and practical workshops); module of Classical Painting and Drawing; module of Integrative Theological Research Methodology; Module of Calligraphy; module of Graphics. Students in this programme acquire interdisciplinary knowledge in theology and arts; skills of analysis of art processes; knowledge and skills of icon and altar painting; skills of integrative theological research work.The graduates of this programme are usually employed in Church, art museums, galleries, and private studios.
