They all have a common talent: transforming fantastic ideas into reality. Do you also dream of lighting up the screen with your artistic signature? Film directors have the eye to capture the subtlest of expressions and, at the same time, they can captivate us with larger-than-life stories using a mash-up of sounds, sights, and all kinds of emotions. Are you also passionate about telling stories and transforming visions into visuals? If you aspire to be at the focal point of film-making, the Bachelor’s Programme in Film Directing is the perfect match for you. Whether it is for the cinema, television, or the internet, directors are all-rounders who are responsible for the creative realization of a film from the very beginning to the very end. They make all the important artistic decisions, mobilize the entire crew, and take into consideration every technical detail to ensure a great outcome. If you’re not just a passionate moviegoer but also have a knack for pulling the strings and pursuing creative challenges as a filmmaker, then you should study Film Directing (B.A.) at Macromedia University. Please note that the program starts in the Winter Semester of 2019. The course content and your competencies The skills and competencies that you acquire during your studies are diverse and cross-disciplinary. The curriculum of the Film Direction program at Macromedia is quite comprehensive in that it blends the basics with all-around knowledge and adequate practical competence through practice projects. Researching, writing, developing, and implementing are the most fundamental tasks of a director. But the key success factor of directorial work is the ability to lead, mobilize, and motivate the actors, the crew, and the experts involved. The director’s conception of the visuals, emotions, and impact of a film is always a collaborative work. So, having knowledge in both technical and creative areas is indispensable in order to work comfortably with equipment, cameras, sound, production, and post-production at eye level. Throughout your studies, you will have many chances to gain practical experience with exercise film projects, where you will learn from highly experienced professors and industry professionals. During your internship semester, you have the chance to work right at the center of the action in a film project with a real company to further enhance your professional and creative skills. Often, our film students take part in national and international film festivals and win prizes and funding. In any case, you have the chance to showcase your films to the entire university at our theatre, which is no less than a real one. In our student project portal, you can find some great examples of student films like “An Apple a Day.” As Macromedia is a member of the International Association of Film and Television Schools (CILECT), you will benefit from worldwide networking opportunities during your studies.
