As a biologist or medical biologist you will try to solve problems in the fields of genetics, cell biology, neuroscience and cognition, environment, and climate. In this Bachelor you will learn everything about microbiology, evolution and molecular biology. In the lab and the green house you study the underground life of plants. You might know the topics from high school. That knowledge is deepened in this programme. Students follow lectures and do research projects on plants, animals, micro-organisms, ecosystems, biochemistry, and genetics. You will discover the link between biology and other fields of science like math, chemistry and physics. Finally, you will learn how to apply your knowledge, for example in sustainable agriculture, managing pollution, and treating hereditary diseases or brain disorders.Why study Biology and Medical Biology at Radboud University?The programme forms a solid base in Biology or Medical Biology but also offers a lot of flexibility. First, you’ll develop an understanding of the whole field of biology by following courses from all learning trajectories. After this, you choose the learning trajectory of your interest in Biology or Medical Biology.You will make use of excellent research facilities. For example, brand new green houses, the Phytotron (root laboratory), and scanners for measuring brain activity.Part of the programme is an internship with one of the Radboud University research groups. In three months you’ll develop research skills and perform part of the leading research that is done at the university. Sometimes you can choose your own research project.Students get excellent guidance. Student advisors and tutors can answer all your questions and the contact between teachers and students is informal.Study association BeeVee takes care of the necessary relaxation during your time as a student. Admissions Requirements
High School Diploma which is equivalent to or higher than Dutch VWO level. You can only be admitted if you have a certain demonstrable level of Mathematics. If your level is not enough, you are required to pass a Mathematics test.
Notes
EU/EEA, Swiss or Surinamese students who have not yet obtained a Bachelor’s degree in the Netherlands need to pay legal fee (€2,314) . When you first enrol in your Bachelor’s studies, you will need to pay half of the tuition fees for the first year. There are some exceptions to these conditions. If you do not meet the above conditions and are from an EEA country, you qualify for the EEA institutional tuition fee of €11,881.
