The Environmental Science with Ecology (Hons) program at ATU Sligo is the longest-running environmental science degree in Ireland. This three-year program equips students with the knowledge and skills to become environmental professionals who can manage our natural resources and address environmental challenges.
The program combines classroom learning with a strong emphasis on practical experiences, including outdoor fieldwork, high-tech laboratory experiments, computer mapping, and site visits.
Students gain a comprehensive skillset in areas like environmental monitoring, data analysis, scientific communication, and problem-solving.
In their final year, students complete a 12-15 week work placement with environmental protection agencies, consultancies, or research institutions. This provides valuable real-world experience.
Students have the option to study abroad at partner universities or participate in international summer schools.
The program is taught by experienced lecturers with expertise in environmental science, ecology, and related fields.
