Profile
The BA in Global Business combines a broad understanding of international business with intercultural experience and work placements. This degree is unique in that you’ll have the chance to participate in two work placements and earn two business degrees in two countries. In your four years, you’ll gain the necessary knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of business in a global context. You’ll spend your first two years in DCU, which includes a work placement in Ireland, and then your final two years in the USA. There is now a common entry to Global Business USA (DC116), after which students will indicate a preference to study at Northeastern University in Boston or the University of San Diego, California. Both universities offer a double degree programme with DCU and support to undertake a work placement in the US as part of the study programme. The University of San Diego (USD) is located approximately two miles north of downtown San Diego on the west coast of the US. San Diego is known for being a tech and life sciences hub, and the university plays host to more than 9,000 students from 85 countries. USD is AACSB accredited.
Northeastern University is located in Boston, Massachusetts. The city is known as an educational hub, along with finance and high-technology research. The university has an enrollment of approximately 21,000 students, with approximately 20% of those being international students. Northeastern is AACSB accredited. After year 1 of the programme at DCU, and on the basis of student preferences and their relative ranking within the class (based on year 1 grades), the allocation of places available for either the University of San Diego or Northeastern University will be determined.
