A dynamic dance profession needs contemporary and individualistic dancers who have achieved a high technical standard and possess theatrical dance capabilities. In the course of four years, the Modern Theatre Dance study trains you to become a versatile dancer who actively participates in the creative process together with the choreographer.During the study you will immerse yourself in various contemporary dance styles along with academic dance at an advanced technical level. This will help you become a multi-talented dancer who feels at home with modern and contemporary dance ensembles both here and abroad. Your command of a broad, contemporary repertoire and dance vocabulary, such as undefinedEmio Greco, undefinedAnne Teresa de Keersmaeker, undefinedOhad Naharin, undefinedLeineRoebana, undefinedClub Guy & Roni, undefinedConny Janssen, plus a personal style of performing make you specially suited to participate in demanding productions.During the first two years of the study programme, emphasis lies on developing the necessary dance technical skills and building up a dance vocabulary based on classical ballet and contemporary dance, off the floor and from a standing position.Lessons in improvisation, composition, partner work, contact improvisation, movement research, movement analysis, physical theatre, drama, music, dance history, philosophy, dance health, Alexander technique and contemporary repertoire ensure a deeper and broader development of your skills towards becoming a versatile, accomplished and excellent dancer/dance performer. The students have the chance to immerse themselves in the work off undefinedICKamsterdam Emio Greco | PC with a workshop Double Skin/Double Mind during a workshop divided over the first three years of the study programme. A bi-weekly intensive workshop “Drumming” by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and an extensive workshop aimed at Gaga featuring the repertoire of Ohad Naharin, offers them an opportunity to confront and experience this work as part of the MTD dance curriculum.
