All General Health Studies

Most degrees in the healthcare field are aimed at producing graduates fit for a specific job, like dentists or laboratory technicians. Still, there are plenty of positions for which a doctor or nurse would be overqualified but still require people who can “talk the talk” and understand the various issues facing the healthcare industry.A general health studies (or just “health studies”) degree enables you to fill that gap. It is also a popular pre-med degree, giving you more options down the line, whether you get your bachelor’s in the United States or abroad. You will learn all the fundamentals of physiology, biochemistry, mathematics, anatomy, and so on you’ll need to further your education and grasp important concepts. In addition, you’ll receive instruction in subjects specific to the healthcare field: records management, ethics, medical research, professional practices, and management. Most general health studies degrees have defined tracks for certain specializations, e.g. pre-physical therapy or healthcare technology. The majority also includes an internship in a clinical setting, where you can apply the skills you learned practically. Health sciences students tend to be ambitious, compassionate, good at scientific subjects, and with excellent people skills.
