The Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Tourism Management provides students with the expertise and knowledge needed to become a successful manager or entrepreneur in this challenging and exciting industry. This course has a strong emphasis on the broad business, management and marketing subjects complemented with tourism specific modules. Learning is based around class delivered lectures, field trips, practical lab classes, guest speakers, and both group and individual project work.
MTU Bishopstown Campus has an excellent reputation for working in partnership and consultation with the travel and tourism industry. The delivery of certain modules provides the student with the opportunity to engage actively with industry.
In year 2, there is an elective module where students undertake a relevant five week period or equivalent of work placement in a chosen sector of the tourism industry. The experience gained will enable the student to recognise his/her strengths and weaknesses regarding general competence and an awareness of the process involved in developing a career in the tourism industry.
Notes
The Student Contribution Charge for EU students is €3,000. EU tuition may be covered by the Free Fees Initiative. EU-Nationals, who are repeating a full year of study, must pay tuition fees.
Application deadline for EU students is February 1.
Admissions Requirements
High School Diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 and ACT with a minimum score of 23 or SATS with a minimum score 1140. It is required from applicants to have completed 4 years of English, at least 3 years of Math (4 years recommended) at least 2 years of History/Social Science and a language and at least 2 years of a laboratory science subject (4 years recommended). Specific subjects may be required for entry into certain courses.
