Why should I study here?

Savonia University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest and most versatile Universities of Applied Sciences in Finland. Our organization of experts educates strong professionals in six different fields of study.

What are the admissions criteria?

Students apply using the joint application form on studyinfo.fi between January 10th and January 25th.  Since a high school diploma is technically needed to apply, students who are in their final year of high school should check with the school to see if they could be considered for discretionary admission (which basically means that the school allows you to apply for provisional consideration).  Applicants from non-anglophone countries need to submit English proficiency test scores and all applicants need to include a photocopy of their passport. Finnish UAS programs are held in April of each year.  There are several locations worldwide for the entrance exams, though some programs/schools require that the exam is taken in Finland.  Some programs allow SAT scores to substitute for the entrance exam.

What is student life like?

Savonia Campuses are located in three cities: Kuopio, Varkaus, and Iisalmi. Varkaus campus offers at the moment an opportunity to graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering in a truly international studying environment. Iisalmi campus – joy and innovative spirit! Our campus is a community of higher professional education with approximately 700 students and 70 staff. Microkatu Campus is the main campus for many of our functions. Kuopio Landmark Technopolis Microkatu is a Kuopio Landmark. Microkatu creates excellent networking opportunities for approximately 150 companies, one of them being Savonia UAS. You can play virtually any sport you wish in Iisalmi. Winter sports facilities are excellent: downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, ice hockey, and skating. And in summer there are facilities for swimming, jogging, hiking, orienteering, cycling, sailing, canoeing, etc. You can play tennis, badminton, football, Finnish baseball, basketball, golf, etc. The Student Union of Savonia University of Applied Sciences (SAVOTTA) is a non-political service and support organization for all students of Savonia University of Applied Sciences (Savonia UAS). SAVOTTA is an autonomous, public corporation. It is founded by the law of the Universities of Applied Sciences. According to the law, the Student Union is part of the University of Applied Sciences and its mission is to act on behalf of the students and as their representative.
