Why should I study here?

The establishment of the Lodz University of Technology is strictly associated with the history and development of industrial Lodz. Thanks to the incredibly fast development of the textile industry in the second half of the 19th century, Lodz became the second largest city in the area of Poland.

What are the admissions criteria?

The application period is from June 1st to July 15th. Applicants must have all admission information translated into Polish by a sworn translator (this usually means using the embassy, but check the school website for a full list).  Students must submit a legalized transcript (see country page for more information on this) showing an education level that entitles them to a university-level education in their home country. All applicants must also submit a copy of their passport, and applicants from non-anglophone countries or high schools must show proof of English proficiency.

What is student life like?

The university covers the area of about 30 hectares and is located in a few dozen buildings. Besides new structures built in the recent years the Lodz Univeristy of Technology adapted and revitalized a few historic 19th-century villas and factory buildings, adjusting them to its needs. All students are obliged to attend sports and recreation courses. Besides general fitness courses, like callanetics and aerobics, the students can choose among the following sections: volleyball, basketball, judo, football, handball, athletics, badminton, tennis, table tennis, ice-skating, taekwondo, rock-climbing, yoga, body-building, squash. The main task is to represent the interest of students at the Technical University of Lodz. In that scope, the Council of Students Self-Government on TUL (as a democratically elected representative of students) is closely cooperating with the university authorities and the Administration of TUL settlements in all matters relating to students of the Technical University of Lodz. In practice,, it may be said that Students’ Self-Government acts as students’ trade union and students’ culture maker.

Housing options.

The Lodz University of Technology administers nine halls of residence, only five to ten minutes from all faculties. The University cannot guarantee placement in the university dormitory because the accommodation possibilities are very limited. But international students should notify in advance the International Office of their intention to live in the halls of residence.
