Why should I study here?

The Univesity of Vet Medicine and Pharmacy:- approved and accredited by EAEVE - it is the sole institution in the Slovak Republic offering higher education in the veterinary field- it was established in 1949- it has been providing the veterinary education in English for 25 years (nowadays are offered 6-year degree programme for secondary-school graduates and 4-year degree post-BSc. programme for bachelors in agricultural, veterinary or biological sciences, both leading to the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).- internationally recognized titles and diplomas - it offers a lot of practical lessons                - animals as a part of a campus- university clinics and special facilities (University farm, University facility for breeding and diseases of game, fish and bees, Equestrian centre...)FUTURE CAREER OPTIONS: small animals clinics, large animals clinics, exotic animals clinics and ZOOs, game reserves, food safety and quality, pharmaceutical industry, research and development, teaching and consultancy and ecology, postgraduate study+A7Students have at their disposal many interest clubs and events within but also out of the UVMP in Košice. What are the admissions criteria?

Applicants are invited to entrance exams based on their application which includes transcripts.  Entrance exams are held in Kosice in May, July and August.  The multiple choice exam assesses knowledge in Biology and Chemistry. The application deadline is May 31st.

What is student life like?

The study programmes are provided by 11 departments, 5 clinics (Small Animal Clinic, Clinic of Birds, Exotic and Free Living Animals, Clinic of Horses, Clinic of Ruminants, Clinic of Swine), University Veterinary Hospital and university special facilities (University Farm in Zemplínska Teplica, Equestrian Centre, University Facility for Breeding and Diseases of Game, Fish and Bees in Rozhanovce). All facilities ensure a high level of practical preparation and permanent contact with animals. 

The complex of dormitories includes sports fields, a gymnasium, and two fitness centers. TJ Slávia UVMP Sports Club consists of five competitive departments: equestrian, dog-showing, canoeing, basketball, and archery; they have successfully performed at all levels of competition, from school to the European and world championships. In the area of community recreational sport, the following activities are organized by the Sports club: strength conditioning, aerobics, football, floorball, and volleyball, orienteering, table tennis, water sports, and hiking. Students have an opportunity to get involved in activities of various interest clubs: Aqua Terra Club, Cynological Club DARCO, Hunting cynology club, Breeder´s club, Falconry and raptor rehabilitation club, Breeder´s club, Small mammal and exotic bird breeder´s club, UVMP sports clubs, etc.
