The IFS internationale filmschule Köln is an artistically and scientifically oriented training and further education institute for media builders. On the initiative of the state government of NRW and the film and media foundation NRW, it was founded in 2000 as a non-profit limited company, whose sole shareholder is the film and media foundation. Their reputation as one of the best film schools in Germany is based in particular on the intensive support of the students, the excellent teaching and project work, and last but not least, the number of won film tours, including the previous coronation in 2012, the student Oscar. The portfolio of the ifs includes the bachelor’s program film with the main focus on screenplay, directing, creative production, camera, editing picture & sound, VFX & animation and scene picture as well as the international master study programs Serial Storytelling and Digital Narratives. The courses are offered in cooperation with the TH Cologne. Further master’s study courses are currently being planned. In addition, there are extensive training opportunities for professional film makers, from costumes to masterclasses in non-fiction.
