HiØ has a strong focus on practical training and its students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in state-of-the-art facilities. HiØ also has close ties to the business community, which gives students the opportunity to intern and work with leading companies. Additionally, HiØ has a strong international outlook, with students from over 100 countries enrolled at the university.
The Fredrikstad campus of HiØ is located in the heart of Fredrikstad, a medium-sized city on the southern coast of Norway. The campus is home to over 3,000 students and over 400 staff. The campus offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs in a variety of disciplines, with a strong focus on business and economics, engineering, and health and social care.
Student Life
Fredrikstad is Norway´s 6th largest city with just over 80,000 inhabitants. It is a city in development which is located very centrally in the eastern region. The train to Oslo takes apporx. an hour, it is a short way to both Moss, Sarpsborg and Halden.
Fredrikstad has a rich cultural and sports life, many nightclubs and nice cafes both along the pier promenade and in the Old Town. Here there are also good opportunities for great nature experiences with exciting bike paths, hiking trails in the field or boat trips in the Hvalerskjærgården.

Housing
The Foundation for Student Life (SiØ) offers new and modern residence halls in Fredrikstad and Halden and are a short walk or bike ride from the two campuses.
All students admitted to degree programmes or exchange programmes may apply for housing.
