Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), established in 1922 (re-established in 1989), is one of the most liberal and modern universities in Lithuania. Its well-deserved reputation is built on pursuing policies of liberal studies and establishing successful international relations with other universities all over the world. It is an open university where traditions and innovations meet and complement each other.

Located at the heart of the city, VMU is deeply ingrained in the culture of Kaunas, as the city enjoys the university’s Jazz Connections Festival, performances by the VMU Music Academy’s lecturers, students and Alumni, the first professional university theatre in Lithuania, etc. VMU Sports Centre provides space for the lovers of basketball, football, track and field athletics, table tennis, outdoor tennis, chess, power triathlon, kyokushin karate, orienteering, badminton, swimming and sport aerobics. Training hall is available for those who are not interested in professional sports, but pursuing sports as a meaningful way to spend spare time. Students can apply for double or triple rooms in the student residences which cost 90 euros per month
