The University of Helsinki (UH) is the oldest and largest university in Finland, located in Helsinki. It was founded in 1640 as the Royal Academy of Turku, and was moved to Helsinki in 1828. The university has over 40,000 students and 7,000 staff, and offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in a variety of fields, including science, technology, medicine, business, law, and the humanities.
UH is known for its strong research output and its close collaboration with industry. The university has a number of world-leading research centers, including the Helsinki Institute of Life Science (HiLIFE), the Helsinki Institute of Physics (HIP), and the Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (HISS).
