Profile
The Master’s Programme in Fine Art is interdisciplinary and based on the conviction that artistic creation can draw on all forms of knowledge and means. The programme functions in a sphere of critical aesthetics and is grounded in the values of the art department’s own history of socially committed education – for us art is deeply integrated into both society and debate. Our professors and teachers are eminent practitioners and pursue careers in their fields, where many of our alumni can also be found today, both nationally and internationally. In studio discussions, workshops and lectures you will also meet a great many other participants in the field of art. Study trips and visits are other elements in the programme. This practically based, highly individualised programme starts from your own project, which will be realised and intensified during the two years of your studies in regular consultation with your tutor. During the programme critical and analytical methods will be explored as well as the relationship to institutions both within the artistic domain and in society at large.A number of optional courses will be based on the artistic research that is being undertaken in the art department. Other courses will enhance cooperation with students in other programmes at Konstfack, where our workshops enable creative methods of every kind.
