Profile
This is the first genuine Master’s programme in Tourism that is based on Tourism studies in Sweden. The programme has a multidisciplinary and international approach, with city tourism as the stating point. The programme differs from undergraduate studies due to research links, independent work and in-depth tourism analysis.During the first semester, there are four courses that cover city tourism. An understanding of the role and importance of the tourism phenomenon in modern society is examined. After this, students study how operative management can be conducted effectively in a tourist company. Then, students study how information can be used in the travel process, as well as how new products and organization models can be developed. Finally, how tourist destinations can be planned and controlled with the help of a quality assurance system is examined. During the second semester, students work with a Master’s dissertation, starting with a literature study on a particular research question chosen by the individual student within the specified framework. New tourism research methods are studied in the context of the dissertation.
