This program provides students with a comprehensive education in early childhood education and care. The program emphasizes a child-led, transformational philosophy, where students develop the skills and knowledge to build positive relationships with children, parents, colleagues, and the broader community. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including child development, play-based learning, curriculum development, assessment, and inclusion. Students also gain valuable practical experience through placements in early childhood settings.
Graduates of the Early Childhood Education and Care programs at ATU Galway can pursue a variety of careers working with young children, such as:

Notes
Tuition Fee – the Department of Education pays tuition fees for all full-time students who are citizens of a Member State of the EU and who meet the residency requirements. Most full-time undergraduate students will be covered by the Free Fees Initiative scheme for their tuition fee. Students from Northern Ireland or Great Britain do not have to pay tuition fees to study in the Republic of Ireland. All students are liable for the Student Contribution fee: €3,000. Application deadline for EU students is February 1.
Admissions Requirements
High School Diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.0 plus: SAT score of 1000+ (1800 prior to 2016) or ACT composite score of 22 and above or 2-3 Advanced Placement Examinations in relevant subjects with grades 3 and above OR 2-3 SAT subject tests in relevant subjects with a minimum score of 600 in each. Vetting Requirement: All places are offered on this programme subject to satisfactory Garda vetting clearance.
