This four-year course is designed to fully equip graduates with the skills required to function as an engineer in the areas of Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Services, Control, Automation, Energy Production, and Renewable Technologies. Graduates of Electrical and Electronic Engineering design, specify, supervise, and operate complex systems and products based on the electrical principles used in these areas. Electronic and electrical engineers work in a broad and exciting engineering field that includes renewable energy, power generation, and distribution; product design, telecommunications, IT; manufacturing, food processing, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, medical, and transport; automation, control, building services, petrochemicals, and research. This course aims to produce well-rounded engineers with a high level of analytical and engineering design skills and was designed in collaboration with the industry to meet the strong demand for engineering graduates in this sector for current and future needs.
Notes
The government will pay the Tuition Fee for most first-time, full-time EU Undergraduates as part of the Free Fees Initiative. All students are liable for the Student Contribution fee: €3,000.
Students should apply through the CAO system. Normal closing date is 01 February. Late Applications are those which are received in the CAO after 1st February. The latest date for receipt in the CAO of such application forms is 1st May. The CAO system allows changes to be made to applications up to 5.15 pm 1st July.
Admissions Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent. If you have met the basic maths entry requirement for a level 8 programme at DkIT but have failed to meet the additional Maths Entry Requirements for this course, you have a second chance at meeting these additional Maths Entry Requirements by sitting the DkIT additional Maths Entry Examination, held in August of each year.
