The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Social Care Practice at ATU Sligo prepares students for rewarding careers in the social care field. This CORU-approved program equips graduates with the knowledge, skills, and values to become professional social care workers.
The program delves into current social issues in Ireland and equips students to develop innovative solutions to support those in need.Two 13-week professional placements in years 2 and 3 allow students to gain hands-on experience under expert supervision in relevant social care settings. Roleplay scenarios are actively used throughout the program to develop critical thinking and communication skills for professional social care interactions.
Lecturers with extensive social work and psychology backgrounds bring real-world experience into the classroom, enhancing theoretical knowledge. Graduates are eligible for registration with the Social Care Workers Registration Board, opening doors to various social care careers.

"Ireland bases its tuition rates on residence (3 of the last 5 years living in the EU) despite whether you're an EU citizen or not. In other words, only those who have resided in an EU country 3 of the last 5 years are eligible for the discounted rates."
Admissions Requirements
High School Diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.0 plus: SAT score of 1000+ (1800 prior to 2016) or ACT composite score of 22 and above or 2-3 Advanced Placement Examinations in relevant subjects with grades 3 and above OR 2-3 SAT subject tests in relevant subjects with a minimum score of 600 in each. Vetting Requirement: All places are offered on this programme subject to satisfactory Garda vetting clearance.
