Description
The University of Jyväskylä (JYU) is a public research university located in Jyväskylä, Finland. It is one of the largest universities in Finland, with over 15,000 students and 3,000 staff. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in a variety of fields, including science, technology, medicine, business, education, and the arts.
JYU is known for its strong focus on research and its close collaboration with industry and government. The university has a number of world-leading research centers, including the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, the Cognition Research Centre, and the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Future Studies.
JYU is also a very international university, with over 2,000 foreign students from over 100 different countries. The university offers a number of services to support international students, such as language support, tutoring, and cultural events.
Tuition range for international students at the University of Jyväskylä:
- Bachelor’s degree: 8,000 – 10,000 euros per year
- Master’s degree: 10,000 – 16,000 euros per year
The tuition fee is paid in two installments, one at the beginning of each semester.
In addition to the tuition fee, international students are also required to pay a student union fee (approximately 100 euros per year) and a healthcare fee (approximately 350 euros per year).

Student Life
Over the last few decades, the University has extended its grounds with two new campus areas on the opposing banks of Lake Jyväsjärvi. Encouraged by the positive experiences of Seminaarinmäki, the Mattilanniemi and Ylistönrinne areas have been planned carefully and they have their own unique features. The Seminaarinmäki (Seminar Hill) campus of the University of Jyväskylä has often been said to be the most beautiful in the country. Its reputation stems from the integration of different designs which have been carefully assembled over the course of centuries.GymHall of ball games; Hall of rhythmic sport; hall of apparatus gymnastics; hall of gymnastics students. Union of the University of Jyväskylä is our University’s students’ interest and service organization. Students' associations of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science are Syrinx ry (Students of Biological and Environmental Sciences), Otsoni ry (Students of Environmental Science and Technology), Radikaali ry (Students of Chemistry), Ynnä ry (Students of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology) and Tiltti ry (Students of Statistics).
Housing
Kortepohja Student Village is owned by the Student Union of the University of Jyvaskyla. Kortepohja, located about 2.5 kilometers from the main campus and the city center, houses approximately 1,900 students. -Central Finland Student Housing Foundation, KOAS offers around 3,900 apartments all around the Jyväskylä city area. The apartment buildings are located in the suburbs of Jyväskylä and offer an excellent opportunity to integrate with people outside the university. The buildings have laundry rooms, saunas, and storerooms, as well as hobby rooms. All KOAS apartments have an Internet connection. You need your own computer and a cable (RJ-45 CAT 5 or better) to use the Internet.
