International School of Management Munich
Description
The International School of Management (ISM) is a private, state-recognized University of Applied Sciences that has been offering career focused management education programs with an international orientation. ISM has seven campuses in Dortmund, Frankfurt am Main, Munich, Hamburg, Cologne, Stuttgart and Berlin.
Originally founded in 1990 as IDB-Wirtschaftsakademie in Dortmund by Klaus Evard, it was renamed the International School of Management (ISM) in 1992. In 1994 it was recognized as a private university of applied sciences. The company shares were taken over in 1998 by ESO Education Group.
In 2006, in accordance with the Bologna Process, ISM switched the Diploma courses to Bachelor and Master courses.
The Munich Campus has been located in the Karlshöfen since 2009 – just a few minutes walk from Königsplatz and easily accessible from the main train station. The roughly 750 students studying there particularly appreciate the contrasts that make the Bavarian capital so special – cosmopolitan young people and traditions, big-city atmosphere and rural charm. The most important economic sectors in Munich are tourism, vehicle and mechanical engineering, electrical engineering as well as the software and IT industry. In addition, the city is an important German media location.
Student Life
If living and studying in an innovative hub of high-tech and technology sounds apealling to you, then you might find your perfect study destination in Munich. Belonging to the top five German university cities thanks to its over 20 universities, Munich is also the seat of various prestigious research institutions (like several Max Planck and Fraunhofer institutes).
Also when it comes to global technology, economics and education sciences, Munich is a landmark. Important international companies are headquartered there and cooperate with Munich's universities.
Many think of Munich as the city of the Oktoberfest, the world-famous folk and beer festival. But Munich has a lot more to offer than this: it is home to the football club FC Bayern München for whom you can cheer in the famous stadium Allianz Arena and it hosts the world's largest museum for Science and Technology as well as the German Museum (Deutsches Museum). Besides the vibrant cultural life, you can always enjoy food in a nice traditional restaurant, spend time in a beer garden, take a walk in the green lung of the city, the park Englischer Garten, or even take a trip to the Bavarian Alps.
