In recent years, innovative developments have changed the region greatly. In particular, element water has established its position as a promising economic sector. Bremerhaven has responded to these changes and brought its maritime heritage with it. The University of Applied Sciences in Bremerhaven was founded in 1975. Thanks to its predecessor institutions, the Geestemunde Navigation College and the Municipal College, the education tradition of the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven can be traced back to more than a hundred years ago. Therefore, the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven distinguishes itself as the university by the sea, not only because of its geographic location directly on the estuary of the Weser, but mainly because of its 24 attractive study programmes.
