We, the UPO (University of Piemonte Orientale), were founded as a state university in 1998, though our history dates back to the 13th century, when a “Studium generale” was established in Vercelli. We are a young, competitive multi-campus, the only university in the region of Eastern Piedmont. Multi-campus means widespread territoriality, plurality, and diversity: a distinctive feature of our university in the Italian higher education system. Our multi-campus structure, embracing the cities of Alessandria, Novara, and Vercelli, gives an identity to this territory, which is an excellent site for pioneering companies and networking organisations.
