A vibrant and historic heritage city, Lancaster is home to around 15,000 students from around the world. With its fair share of pubs and clubs, Lancaster has a lively music scene, as well as a selection of high street stores and independent boutiques for you to explore. Not to mention many other interesting cultural sightseeing opportunities including Lancaster Castle and the Pendlebury Witches Trail.
Our Lancaster campus occupies large green and tranquil spaces. A short walk away from campus you will find Lancaster City Centre and the beautiful Williamson Park, home to the iconic Ashton Memorial, 54 acres of park and woodland and the annual Highest Point Festival.

As soon as you start university, you automatically become a member of UCSU. UCSU is also affiliated to the National Union of Students (NUS) meaning you’re a voice amongst many students across the UK.

Ambleside Campus:
The Barn Cafe: Offers sandwiches, snacks, cakes, desserts, hot and cold drinks.
Vending machines are available outside of normal opening hours.
Carlisle Campus:

Scholarship & Funding
The University of Cumbria is offering an international fees discount scholarship of up to £2,000 (per year of study); this is available to most Non-EU and Non-EEA international students enroling with us in the academic year 2024/25.
Our EU Transition Scholarship offers financial support to our European students wishing to study with us full-time in the academic year 2023/24 and 2024/25. If you normally reside in the EU or the EEA and are starting your undergraduate or postgraduate taught course in September 2024 and January 2024, you could be eligible for this reduction in your tuition fees.
The value of the scholarship brings your tuition fees in line with that of UK students and will be automatically applied for all eligible EU students.

GREAT Scholarships are jointly funded by the University of Cumbria with the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign and the British Council.
