Econometrics and Operations Research: Econometrics and Data Science
Profile
As an econometrician you’ll come away with excellent mathematical skills, data-analysis skills, problem-solving skills and presentation skills. After all, you’ll also need to be able to communicate your proposed solutions to others who may not be econometricians.
If you choose the Econometrics and Data Science track, you’ll combine computer science methods and statistical data analysis, ideal to tackle challenging problems in business, economics and finance.
The Econometrics and Data Science track of the Bachelor’s programme in Econometrics and Operations Research at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is small enough for all our students to know each other and explore the depths of the subject matter. At the same time, it is big enough for you to build an extensive network that you can tap into throughout the rest of your career.
Besides attending lectures on the theory and practice of Econometrics and Data Science, you’ll also work on group assignments, solve case studies by analysing data, and get first-hand practical experience with companies.
The programme has an active study association too, adding a fun and social side to your study. Kraket organises regular careers events, inviting representatives from large companies like KLM to VU Amsterdam, and even plans trips to companies abroad.
