Nurture the health and well-being of children and young people with the University of Salford’s BSc (Hons) in Nursing (Children and Young People). This three-year, full-time program equips you with the knowledge, skills, and compassion to become a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in the care of infants, children, and adolescents.
Specialize in Pediatric Care: Gain in-depth knowledge of child and adolescent development, physical and mental health needs, and common childhood illnesses and injuries. Learn specialized nursing practices to provide comprehensive care for young patients in various healthcare settings.
Develop Clinical Expertise: The program balances theoretical learning with extensive clinical placements in hospitals, community clinics, and specialist children’s services. You’ll gain hands-on experience working alongside qualified nurses and caring for children and young people in real-world healthcare environments.
Compassionate Care: Develop the essential skills for compassionate and patient-centered care. Learn to communicate effectively with children, young people, and their families, building trust and providing emotional support during challenging times.
Strong Foundation in Nursing: Master the core principles of nursing practice, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. Develop critical thinking skills to make sound clinical judgments and ensure the safety and well-being of your patients.
Professional Preparation: The program prepares you for the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration exam, qualifying you to work as a Registered Nurse in the UK. You’ll gain valuable career guidance, develop your resume writing and interview skills, and explore diverse career paths within pediatric nursing.
Graduates emerge as qualified Registered Nurses (Children and Young People) prepared for diverse careers in various settings, including:
- Children’s hospitals and wards
- Neonatal intensive care units (NICUs)

- Specialist services for children with chronic illnesses or disabilities

Admissions Requirements
High School Diploma with a combined score of SAT I of at least 1260 with an individual minimum score in mathematics of 570 /800 and an individual minimum score of 610/800 in the evidence-based reading and writing section; or ACT with a score of at least 26; or grade 3, 3, 4 in three Advanced Placement Tests (APs) in specified subjects; or SAT II in three specified subjects at 575 or better (we will accept tests interchangeably as long as in total three subject areas are covered).
