All Developmental Studies

Development studies concerns itself with how countries and communities advance and grow, what factors can help or hinder them, and what policies and aid could be most effective at assisting them. It is usually studied as a master’s degree to supplement a bachelor’s in economics, international relations, or a similar qualification. Some European universities do, however, offer bachelor’s courses in development studies. This is a highly cross-disciplinary area of study. Education, human rights, environmentalism and much more can all affect the economic and social development of a region. International and regional politics are also studied in detail. The ideal student of development studies has a broad worldview and a critical, empirical outlook on society. Good people skills and the ability to foster positive interactions with people from a variety of backgrounds are highly useful.
