Profile
In the Bachelor’s program in Liberal Arts and Sciences you will examine global issues using insights from a range of scientific disciplines, such as law, social sciences, history, culture, psychology, management and cognitive neuroscience. This interdisciplinary approach enables you to gain an in-depth understanding of complex global issues in contemporary society and to look for creative solutions. The first year offers a core curriculum that introduces you to a variety of subjects within different scientific disciplines. While exploring these different disciplines, you discover what kind of academic path you wish to pursue. Based on this experience, you will choose a major in the second year and specialize in one of five disciplines:Social Sciences: Human BehaviorLaw in an International ContextArts and Humanities: Past-Present-FutureBusiness and EconomicsCognitive Neuroscience: Brain and CognitionThis provides a solid foundation for the third year, in which you are free to explore your interests in a minor program, giving you a unique profile. In addition, you will take online classes. Most of our students use the first semester of the third year to study abroad at one of our renowned partner universities. You finish your program with a Bachelor’s thesis. The degree awarded (Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science) depends on the major you choose. At the end of the first year you will choose a major. In the second and third year you take courses that are part of your chosen specialization. However, within the major the curriculum is not entirely set: in addition to the core curriculum, you have the opportunity to take elective courses with which you can specialize.
