American University of Paris
Description
This is a liberal arts college so the programs listed are the choices of majors they offer. September 6, 1962, saw the arrival of the first students of the American College in Paris, a two-year, junior college located within the American Church in Paris.
By 1975, over half of ACP’s students were non-American. In 1978, The American College in Paris became accredited as a four-year, degree-granting college. ACP became The American University of Paris in 1988 and has since shaped students.
Student Life
The American University of Paris is an urban institution centrally located in the seventh arrondissement of Paris, very near the Eiffel Tower and the Seine. Like most urban European colleges and universities, the AUP campus is a composite of its buildings, all located within close walking distance.
The American University of Paris' Sports Office is all about our student-athletes. The skills you acquire on the playing field are applicable to all facets of life and align directly with our mission to educate. AUP sponsors several varsity teams that compete with other university teams throughout Paris. By joining a club at AUP, you will learn how to function effectively in a team, how to coordinate events, delegate tasks, and projects, and improve your communication skills. You may also learn practical skills such as writing, bookkeeping, marketing, layout, and graphic design. Below is a list of the current clubs we have here at AUP.
Housing
Housing at AUP is a very special experience—that of living in one of the actual neighborhoods of the most beautiful city in the world. The area you live in encompasses much more than just where you sleep and shower; it also includes the shops and cafes you frequent, the parks and streets you walk in, the metro and bus stops you use, and the neighbors you get to know. In short, this is the part where you live like a local. Every AUP student lives in a shared apartment, a studio, a private home, or a house and comes to feel that his or her quarter is home.
