The Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Home Economics and Biology at Atlantic Technological University Sligo (St. Angela’s) is a full-time, integrated teacher education program that prepares graduates for careers in teaching both Home Economics and Biology. This program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in both subject areas, as well as the pedagogical skills necessary to be effective teachers.
Graduates are qualified to teach both Junior Cycle Home Economics and Leaving Certificate Home Economics and Biology to higher level.
Students develop a deep understanding of the core concepts and principles of Home Economics and Biology.
The program includes a strong focus on developing the skills necessary to be effective teachers, such as lesson planning, instructional delivery, and assessment.
Notes
EU Tuition: may be paid by the Irish Government if you qualify for the Free Fees Initiative. All students need to pay a Student Contribution €3,000. Student Contribution may be aided by the Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) grant. Students must satisfy the Garda/police vetting requirements. Application deadline for EU students is February 1.
Admissions Requirements
High School Diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.0 plus: SAT score of 1000+ (1800 prior to 2016) or ACT composite score of 22 and above or 2-3 Advanced Placement Examinations in relevant subjects with grades 3 and above OR 2-3 SAT subject tests in relevant subjects with a minimum score of 600 in each.
