Fontys University of Applied Sciences Tilburg
Description
The name Fontys was given to the University of Applied Sciences on September 1, 1996. The name derives from the Latin word “fons”, which means “source”, a source of knowledge for students. Fontys is a merger of several Dutch Higher Education Institutes located in the south of the Netherlands. Some of these institutes were founded in the early 1900s and have a long and profound educational history.
Student Life
Our international English-taught bachelor's and master's programs are conducted at our campuses located in Eindhoven, Tilburg, and Venlo. All campuses are equipped with excellent computer facilities, libraries, and student restaurants. Wireless Internet is available throughout the campuses, enabling you to bring your laptop to Fontys and to work, study, search for information and check your e-mail wherever you happen to be at Fontys.
Housing
Like most cities in the Netherlands, Eindhoven has a shortage of affordable student accommodation. This means that finding accommodation in Eindhoven can be difficult and time-consuming. It is very common to find accommodation through Facebook groups for rooms in Eindhoven and Tilburg. Alternatively, if you are a new (first-year) student, Fontys International Office can help with finding accommodation for one year. After that year arranging accommodation is your own responsibility.

Scholarship & Funding
Fontys offers a 3000 euro scholarship opportunity to new students from outside of the EU. Non-EU students can also apply for the 5000 euro merit-based Holland Scholarship.
Notes
The Universities of Applied Sciences are quite reputable in the Netherlands and provide a way for students without the IB/AP requirements held by the Universities to study in this very cool country. That said, students should be aware of extra requirements that may be necessary when applying for graduate school. Read more here
