Vilnius Gediminas Technical University
Description
Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) has a proud tradition of learning and teaching which dates back to its foundation year.
in 1956, when Kaunas Polytechnic Institute established the Vilnius Evening Division. From that point forward, the evening college grew to become a fully-fledged independent university with its own charter.
Student Life
A dynamic university is an open and creative university. We are proud of our energetic, enthusiastic, and talented students, and encourage them to further develop their skills at the University. VILNIUS TECH has several art clubs that help to sustain long and historic traditions. Recently, our clubs celebrated their 50th anniversary. The most significant and oldest of these clubs include theatre, choir, and dance. In our theatre studio, “Palėpė”, students act, direct, and create, and in our mixed academic choir, “Gabija”, they sing together and perform in public to appreciative audiences. The folk dance ensemble, “Vingis”, celebrates native Lithuanian dance and is accompanied by traditional folk instruments. For sportsmen and women, there is no shortage of opportunities. Our athletes compete in sports as diverse as basketball, volleyball, football, tennis players, wrestling, track and field athletes, powerlifting, and many other sports. VILNIUS TECH athletes are well represented in inter-university, national, international, European, and World championships and tournaments.
